So, imagine our amazement when we learned that Gunther Holtorf has been living in his car for the last 23 years! We are not kidding! Not even sleeping in hotels or hostels.
We can't fathom how anyone could live and sleep in such a small space for all that time, but what is certain is that your storage would need to be super efficient, and well organised so that you could access what you need without having to unload the boot or the roofrack all the time.
Gunther Holtorf's 23-year road trip began back in 1989, as the Berlin Wall fell. Gunther and his late wife Christine set out on what was meant to be an 18-month tour of Africa in their Mercedes Benz G Wagen. Now, with more than 500,000 miles on the clock, Gunther is still going! The German former airline executive has travelled the equivalent of 20 times around the planet in the vehicle, which he calls Otto.
Recently in Vietnam, Canadian-born photographer David Lemke joined Gunther on one section of his epic journey.

We all agree in the Things4MyHome.com office that while we may not wish to live out of a vehicle for any length of time, the adventure looks amazing and we are awed by Gunther and Christine's courage and strength to live their lives exactly how they want to. :-)
